CALGARY, Canada - July 26, 2001

Wi-LAN Inc. (TSE: WIN), a global innovator in the field of high-speed wireless data communications, today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Alliance Cables, adding them as a Gold Certified Partner in Wi-LAN's Channel Partner Program. Alliance Cables serves the Internet Service Provider (ISP), enterprise, and carrier markets across Canada, and will act as a first-tier distributor of Wi-LAN broadband wireless access products and TIL-TEK antennas in its pre-packaged network solutions.

Through this new partnership, Alliance Cables will supply Wi-LAN and TIL-TEK products to its network of customers and resellers. These products will then be sold to customers that require superior backhaul application solutions, or as part of a larger network solution including components made by Alliance Cables.

"With their solid reputation in the broadcast, wireless communications, and wire-cable industries, Alliance Cables is a welcome addition to Wi-LAN's Channel Partner Program," said Graham Smith, Wi-LAN's Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. "We are confident that this relationship will thrive, with Wi-LAN and TIL-TEK's products strengthening Alliance Cables' wireless business solutions."

The Wi-LAN Channel Partner Program provides participants with the tools and information required to succeed in the wireless networking equipment and services market. The program enables resellers and partners to differentiate their business, gain higher levels of customer satisfaction and increase market share and profitability. With Alliance Cables, Wi-LAN will gain a significant partner in which to distribute its products in Canada.

"We are energized about our new relationship with Wi-LAN and TIL-TEK, and are proud to become a first-tier distributor of its line of superior wireless solutions," said Dave Perry, Vice President of Alliance Cables. "The move to supply Wi-LAN and TIL-TEK products compliments our existing line of passive components and enables Alliance to offer a truly 'complete' end-to-end solution.
