Wi-LAN Ranked as One of Top 50 Technology Companies by Deloitte & Touche


Award Focuses on Revenue Growth of Canadian Companies Over the Last Five Years

CALGARY, Canada - August 15, 2001

Wi-LAN Inc. (TSE: WIN), an innovator of high-speed wireless data/Internet communications, today announced that it has been honoured as a finalist in the Deloitte & Touche Canadian Technology Fast 50 award for 2001. This ranking is the only program that specifically recognizes technology companies in Canada, and is based on the highest rates of revenue growth during the last five years (1996 - 2000).

The Canadian Technology Fast 50 recognizes the importance of Canadian technology companies and the expansion of the sector across the country. Alberta increased its presence in 2001 by 75 per cent, growing from four to seven companies including

Other Alberta companies included in this year's rankings include Axia NetMedia Corp., BioWare Corp., Fin Tech Solutions Ltd., RMI Wireless, SUBNET Solutions Inc. and Thixotech Inc. The final ranking of the recipients will be revealed at a gala event on September 20, 2001 in Toronto.
