Wi-LAN Adds Vice President Human Resources

Dilan Perera Brings Experience in Human Resources Leadership Within Fast-Growing Companies to Wi-LAN

Wi-LAN Inc. (TSE:WIN), a leading innovator in the field of wireless data/Internet communications, today announced the appointment of Dilan Perera as Vice President, Human Resources and Business Services. Previously with TransCanada PipeLines, Dilan will assume responsibility for all aspects of Wi-LAN's human resources management, including information systems, facilities management, insurance, safety and security, community relations and administration. Within human resources, Dilan's responsibilities will include staffing, compensation, training and development, policies, and employee relations.

Dilan has an impressive background in human resources, having worked with numerous successful and fast-growing companies. Most recently, as the Vice President, Human Resources for TransCanada Energy, the marketing business unit of TransCanada PipeLines, Dilan was responsible for the start-up and rapid growth TransCanada Power from 4 employees, zero assets and zero revenues in 1995, to over 200 employees, $1.3 Billion in revenues and $1.6 Billion in assets by the Fall of 1999. Among his previous roles, Dilan was Manager, Human Resources for the Calgary Olympics, growing from 15 employees in January 1983, to over 600 employees and 8000 volunteers in 1988. Dilan is a Past President of the Human Resources Association of Calgary, and currently serves as the Chair of the Hire-A-Student Committee of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
